Analysis the developer understands

Much of a software analyst’s work involves communication.  Here’s a few practical hits to consider as you embark on this journey.

Let’s be honest, software developers in general do not like to read a specification. I know, I was one and also worked with many.

The problem with so many specifications is that it is super hard to read.

When writing a spec, here’s the acid test if it’s any good:

Does the developer really know what he must do?

So, here are the mistakes being made in documenting requirements:

  • Too high level – lack of detail
  • Not logically structured
  • Lack of developer collaboration
